The Grammys tried to sneak by us, but we caught ‘em. Even though it’s perhaps the least relevant awards show, it’s a good excuse to talk about 2012 music. Logan gives some alternate nominations that give a better picture of the music of the last year (and also a few picks to help you fit in with the cool kids).
Before we get to the music, though, we end up talking about personal technology for a while. Logan has finally picked out his next smartphone: the HTC One announced last week. Logan also bought a new laptop, and, after a lot of talk about what to look for in a laptop (and considering the possibility of taking the leap into the world of Apple), he reveals his choice: a Lenovo IdeaPad. We also hit TV and holla at a couple restaurants.
Music on the podcast:
Carly Rae Jepsen, “Call Me Maybe”
Taylor Swift, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”
As promised, we dig into HBO’s Girls, and we bring along a guest, Shannon, to help us. Why is there so much distaste for the show? Is Marnie likable? Have we seen too much naked Lena Dunham? We argue about it all, you decide.
Also, hear how Valentine’s Day went, find out whether Logan and Bob could ever vote Republican (again), and get the skinny on Russian Imperial Stout and FX’s the League.
It’s the Practically Ideal Oscars Supershow! Logan and Bob set you up with what you need to know about the Academy Awards. We put in the work so you don’t have to. Bob saw (most of) the nominated movies, and Logan crunched the numbers on the movies likely to win.
Along the way, we find learn a little about how seriously Logan takes his pinky swears and about Bob’s personal movie rating system. Oh, and do people still use RSS aggregators? Finally, hear about the guys’ Valentine’s Day plans.
